There are three steps to choosing a tankless water heater:

STEP1: Intended Use

The type of water heater you will buy will depend on where you plan to use it. You will need a portable tankless water heater if you intend to take it for your camping trip, for use in RVs or Boats. If it is not for portable use, you will be buying an indoor or outdoor tankless water heater. Marey and Eccotemp offer portable tankless water heaters.

STEP 2: Decide Type

There are two basic types: Electric and Gas. Gas tankless water heaters are powered by either Natural Gas or Liquid Propane Gas. You will see LP or NG in the title of a product which translates to Liquid Propoane or Natural Gas

STEP 3: Determine the right model

Some factors to consider:

  • Point of Use or Whole House.
  • Will it provide enough water for your needs (GPM or Gallons Per Minute)
  • Ground Temperature - will help determine how powerful water heater you need. If you live in Maine, you will need a more power tankless water heater than if you lived in Florida.
